We here at Iconic Mobile Retail love all things iconic.  Every once in a while, you will find us blogging about something iconic — icons in culture, icons in history, icons in…icons…

Today being Election Day, it’s good for us to think about some of the great icons of our country.  We’ve definitely got a lot of them, from apple pie to Babe Ruth to the White House.  So here’s a list of my top five American Icons:

5.  The state of Texas.  I guarantee that you can go anywhere in the world, draw the shape of the state of Texas, and people will know what it is.  (Also, if you mention you’re from here, they might just ask if you’re a cowboy.)

4. The Statue of Liberty.  What is more American than Lady Liberty?  (Don’t tell me that there’s more than one Lady Liberty out there.  Ours is the best.)

3. Thanksgiving!  It’s right around the corner.  What’s more American than turkey, corn, and apple pie?

2. Old Glory.  Talk about recognizable symbols.  Our Stars and Stripes are known throughout the world, representing the greatest country on Earth.

1. The ballot box.  Sometimes it’s easy for us to forget how incredible our democratic process is.  We forget that when this country was founded, some of the greatest intellects came together and debated about the best way to preserve freedom and the common good, and they decided that a democratic republic was the best way to go.  Now, when the world thinks of democracy, it thinks of the United States of America.

So remember that today, Election Day, you get to participate in one of the most iconic American traditions — a mini-revolution held every four years when We the People get to decide our own leaders.
